If you haven't met Bloomberg TV's Matt Miller -- the host of "Bloomberg Rewind" -- in person, you're really missing out.
Last week, we had the pleasure of bumping into the tall Bloomberg anchor during a visit to the New York Stock Exchange.
Miller -- who reports from the floor of the NYSE in addition in anchoring his evening wrap-up show -- charmed us while snacking on some Sour Patch Kids and sharing his love of squash.
It totally won us over. Here at Clusterstock, we though we'd send him a questionnaire, and let him (and the internet) know we're ready to take him on in a game ourselves.
Check out his responses below. (Hilarity ensues...)
Name: Matthew Tully Lucas Miller
Hometown: Granville, OH
Birthday: 5th November, 1973 (Guy Fawkes Day -- "Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot...'')
Sign: Scorpio
Personal Motto: "It's better to ask forgiveness than permission.''
Where did you go to school? Cassingham Elementary, Granville Middle School, The Welsh Hills School, The Columbus Academy and Granville High School
What was your first job? I started as a clerk and eventually became manager at Generation Records in the Village on Thompson St. between Bleecker and W. 3rd!
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? First a rock star, then a jet fighter pilot, then an investment banker and then an outlaw.
What was your proudest day at work? I don't know if I've had one "proudest day'' but I've felt a great sense of accomplishment delivering news to viewers in difficult situations, such as the London bombings in July of 2005. And I am incredibly proud of my team after big events such as the Detroit Auto Show.
What was your biggest screw up at work? Carol Massar was out sick and I was filling in for her on an early morning program a few years ago, and as I welcomed viewers to the show with, "Good morning, I'm Carol Massar!'' I realized I wasn't. I will read anything that's on the prompter...
Favorite Book? "Infinite Jest,'' by David Foster Wallace, I also love "Harlot's Ghost,'' by Norman Mailer and "Catch-22,'' by Joseph Heller.
What do you collect (by accident or design)? I find myself collecting socks and cufflinks because I have to wear them to work. I like colorful striped socks and animal-themed cufflinks, though my favorite are a "Steal-Your-Face'' design to commemorate my favorite band (R.I.P., Jerry).
What can't you leave home without? My green messenger bag. It's kind of my murse and it has all of my gear in it at all times, including various earpieces and cords, a Go-Pro HD cam with all the different mounts, headphones, a few pairs of sunglasses, my Bloomberg Anywhere token, highlighters, some toothbrushes, Perky Jerky, a Capri Sun...
What’s sitting on your nightstand right now? "The Four-Hour Workweek,'' by Tim Ferris, "The Map and Territory,'' by Michel Houellebecq (I forgot to mention his novel "Atomised'' is another of my favorite books), a Macbook 15'', two eye masks, a pair of earplugs and the remote control for my adjustable bed.
What’s your pet peeve? I hate getting scripts on that heavy, glossy color-printer paper. I hate waiting in line. I hate traffic.
Favorite place to be alone? At my house in Bronxville -- does it count as alone if my dog Steve is there?
Favorite place/person to get advice? My mom and dad are my number-one go-to for advice. Then Andy Lack.
What do you eat for breakfast? Oatmeal at home and an egg burrito with sausage instead of avocado and hot sauce from Lange's for the drive to work.
What’s your favorite way to get some exercise? Doubles squash.
Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it? Stephanie Ruhle calls me Mateo, but otherwise I don't think I do have a nickname. How have I never noticed that?
Wall Street Journal or Financial Times? Now that I live in New York, I read the Journal religiously. When I lived in London, before the invention of the iPad, I read the FT. In Germany I like Die Welt -- not as trashy as Bild or as boring as the FAZ or the Sueddeutsche.
